Our Facility

Located atop Queen Anne Hill, Butterworth Funeral Home-Arthur A.Wright Chapel is located just minutes from downtown Seattle. Built in 1930, Butterworth has a long history of serving families in the Greater Seattle area. Situated next to Mt. Pleasant Cemetery and Hills of Eternity, we serve a diverse clientele.
Originally opened as the Arthur A. Wright Funeral Home, Butterworth is a beautiful two-story building with a full basement, and is an example of fine Spanish architecture. The entrance opens to a reception hall for loved ones to gather. A large parlor also serves as an arrangement office, an inspirational chapel has seating for up to 150 guests and a family room is located behind the pulpit. One side of a grand, split staircase leads to the choir loft, music room and balcony of the chapel. The other side of the staircase takes you to a corridor accessible to other facilities in the building.
Members of our staff pride themselves in providing a wide variety of choices including personalized services, cremation memorials and traditional funerals. We feel that serving you is a privilege, and understand that the loss of a loved one is a very personal experience.
At Butterworth Funeral Home, we believe that every life is unique, and every funeral should be too. We celebrate life. Whether you need immediate assistance or have questions about one of our affordable prearrangement plans, our knowledgeable and helpful staff members are here to help. We offer The Simplicity Plan® prearrangement program, an easy way to handle an important family responsibility.
QUEEN ANNE COLUMBARIUM
The lovely Queen Anne Columbarium, with its stunning stained-glass windows and elegant marble floors, is adjacent to Butterworth Funeral Home. Constructed in 1905, it has long been a part of Seattle’s history. A major renovation in 1939 resulted in the addition of an elaborate columbarium directly over the existing one, which continues to be used today.
As the only columbarium in downtown Seattle, the Queen Anne Columbarium has become a unique alternative for families who wish to honor the cremated remains of their loved ones in a serene, yet convenient, setting. Moldings and trims reflect the care that went into the creation of this special resting place. Skilled wood-working craftmanship throughout the columbarium adds a special touch in each of the seven rooms of niches.
Full funeral services, including viewing prior to cremation, are available in Butterworth’s chapel. Services may also be held in the Queen Anne Columbarium rotunda at the time of placement.
